Wood-Fired Roots, Community-Focused Future

At Steel City Pizza, we believe great food can do more than nourish—it can restore neighborhoods, preserve history, and bring communities back to life.

We make wood-fired, Italian-inspired pizza with uncompromising quality and purpose. Our dough is made from scratch using just flour, water, salt, and yeast, then fermented for at least 72 hours for maximum flavor and texture. Our sauce is a simple blend of Italian tomatoes, salt, and basil. Every pizza is crafted with care, topped with high-quality mozzarella and thoughtfully chosen ingredients, then cooked in a blazing wood-fired oven for a crisp, lightly charred finish.

Revitalization Through Food

We opened our doors in Middletown, Ohio, after transforming a long-abandoned warehouse into a scratch-made pizzeria and fast casual gathering spot. It became more than a place to eat—it became a sign of what’s possible when you invest in forgotten places and serve food that means something.

In 2025, we expanded to Hamilton, Ohio, purchasing the historic Arches Saloon—a building known as the city’s oldest bar. Over time, the building and the surrounding blocks had become disconnected from the rest of the Rossville Historic District, struggling with visible signs of neglect and disinvestment.

We saw an opportunity to restore the building and reconnect the neighborhood to the vibrant, historic identity it deserves. While renovations are still underway, we’ve already begun hosting outdoor pop-up events using our mobile wood-fired oven, welcoming neighbors back to the space and helping write a new chapter rooted in hospitality, craft, and community.

From Fast Casual to Full Service

Our Middletown location operates as a fast casual counter-service pizzeria, perfect for quick meals and casual gatherings. In contrast, our Hamilton location is being built as a full-service sit-down restaurant, complete with a scratch kitchen, craft cocktail bar, and indoor-outdoor dining experiences designed to bring people together.

This evolution reflects our larger mission—to not only serve pizza, but to reimagine how food, history, and place can come together to uplift a neighborhood.

Why We Do It

Steel City Pizza is about more than pizza. We’re about resilience, renewal, and rootedness. We save buildings—and the stories that come with them—because we believe in creating new chapters for old spaces and new momentum for the communities they stand in.

Whether we’re firing up our mobile oven at a private event or welcoming guests into a restored landmark, our goal is always the same:

Preserve history and revitalize neighborhoods, one pie at a time.
